The Lafayette City Council in November 2017 passed a resolution to adopt the Boulder County Regional Housing Strategy in support of affordable housing, signing on to the goal of reaching 12% affordable housing by 2035.

The Willoughby Corner affordable housing project was approved on April 18, 2023. It will provide 400 units of energy-efficient homes for families and people age 55 and up, plus community buildings and outdoor spaces.
